Deja vu all over again.

When I joined the Extro list in 1996 (I think) they were talking about
installing some kind of automated list filtration mechanism, and I was
advocating the use of collaborative filtering mechanisms, or stronger
keyword enforcement...

They're still talking about it today.

Several times, people have volunteered to work on any programming effort
that came up... there was even one offer of a large cash award for a good
filtering mechanism... but the Extro list is still unfiltered today, and
steadily decreasing from the quality of the Good Old Days. (No, it's not
nostalgia; I still have the posts...)

If anyone ever comes up with a decent, transparent, complex, functional
mailing list mechanism that doesn't require a single moderator, I will be
overjoyed. Rumors have both Javien and Ka-Ping Yee working on solutions,
so until then, I give up.
