Cool! I can't wait to read it! Current ideas and concepts of how the Singularity will occur are all over the map from the internet waking up to a large dedicated software engineering team to some hacker in Hungary doing it on his own. And that only covers the AI side. Some people think Nanotech, genetic engineering or some other exotic science of the future will go ballistic. I guess what seems most likely depends on your personal experience. Being an engineer and programmer myself, I consider the dedicated software team idea to be the most probable. I personally don't see the internet waking up. But to use a term Ben Goertzel is fond of, that's my "intuition". I am not currently working on AI (got to pay the bills, writing programs to solve problems in the manufacture of jet engine parts) but would like to, before it's too late. In the mean time I have written a couple of short stories about the Singularity on this list which you can find in the archives under "Four years later" and "A hard takeoff".

I look forward to reading your stuff. By the way, what is the name of your book that you wrote in 2000?

Mike.
