Eliezer,

To answer your other question: What should one of us do if we identify an
AGI project that we think is reasonably likely to lead to a very bad
outcome?

Of course, a dangerous project should not be allowed to reach completion.
But identifying which projects are actually dangerous, with confidence, is
not easy.

In the case of Novamente,

a) the project is still at an engineering phase, so any dangers are a ways
off

b) I'm quite willing (in fact, eager) to involve you in the project when we
get to a primarily "teaching" rather than "engineering" phase

I'll be more interested in your opinion of Novamente's hazards once you're
involved in helping teach Novababy. At that point you'll understand it a
lot better -- we all will.
