This is an old & well-known reply. Reading the links I provided
would've shed some light upon this. Also, beyond those basic
introductory requirements, if you'd like to seriously pursue whether
this idea is salvageable, Theodicy: An Annotated Bibliography on the
Problem of Evil, 1960-1991 http://www.pdcnet.org/theo.html is a good
resource.
I'm not sure a discussion on philosophy of religion is
SL4-appropriate. That noted, if you care to continue a
discussion/debate on the problem of evil, you should probably reply
off-list.
