What does this thread have to do with advancing towards technological
Singularity?

If the question is how an AI would evaluate the usefulness of animal rights,
or the desire to kill for sport (that's not exactly "friendly" AI) then I
could see some relevance. But what does anyone really care about lions
eating mechanical meat-flavored robots? They're called Gazelles and nature
is already producing them. :)

I think there is a greater potential that a mass-migration to a
Singularity-enabled alternative to this mundane world will allow 'natural'
ecosystems to rebalance in a state of much less human-inflicted stressors.
What makes the preservation of any particular status-quo inherently more
valuable than unmanaged evolution of what is left?
