Stanford Singularity Summit - Volunteers Sought

For anyone who doesn't know, the Stanford Singularity Summit will be held on
May 13th at Stanford Memorial Auditorium (1700 seats). The event will be
free, and is being organized by Stanford Symbolic Systems Program, Stanford
Transhumanist Association, KurzweilAI.net, and The Singularity Institute.

Filling the venue to maximum capacity and achieving a remarkable event will
only be possible through a lot of volunteer help. Coordinating volunteer
effort, rather than hiring contractors, will save SIAI a heaping amount of
money. Everyone who tangibly helps the conference will be recognized at the
Summit site and in the booklet as part of the organizing team.

I'll be coordinating all volunteers. Speed is needed because there are an
immense number of tasks involved in putting on a large event (and there are
other complex projects going on that need attention), but they can all be
well-specified, delegated, and collaborated on, particularly content.

The following is a short summary of what must be done. If you can honestly
make a commitment to help out with some of these things, then please get in
touch with me at emerson@intelligence.org, or my cell, 650 353 6063.

~~

Content writing (overview, themes, press releases, travel and lodging info,
directions, parking info, speaker info, final program, "What Is the
Singularity?" content, "The Singularity Is Near" content, advance reading)

Promotion (email templates for emailing webmasters and bloggers, online and
offline event calendar listings, media referrals and specific commitments)

Website development (I have a designer but would welcome help specifying
what's needed for particular webpages, e.g. pages with form information)

Experienced transcribers and photographers

Thanks,

~~
