Schmidhuber on accelerating change

Jürgen Schmidhuber has recently published a paper about accelerating
change and the Omega Point (a.k.a. "Singularity").

http://www.idsia.ch/~juergen/history.html

Alas, the paper has nothing to do with the Singularity in the ("closely
related") Vingean sense. Most of it is actually a very dense summary of
Schmidhuber's own AI research -- not bad at all, and not completely off
topic. In the end it offers an alternative explanation to (subjective)
accelerating change, which I found not convincing: I don't see how it
would explain the measurable (objective) trends, such as Moore's Law.

Christian Rovner
