Also, be aware that getting a PhD from a state school (unless it's
UPenn, Penn State, U. of Chicago, or U. of Michigan) is not going to
get you a job as a professor at a university. Do anything you can -
join the Army, sell your body on the streets, whatever - to get into
and pay for a name-brand institution like MIT, Stanford, or
Carnegie-Mellon. Doing so will open doors for you everywhere for the
rest of your life.
