I agree (though I'm very much to blame!)
But it does serve some practical use - seeing how people can be such
viscerally opposites now, on such minor issues as healthcare and
government, I'm not sure we should trust our certainties about
something like the singularity.
Though the singularity will not mean the end of politics; in fact
there's a good chance that playing politics will be what most people
will spend their time doing, after a singularity (that and playing
games, of course).
