Perhaps it is not an answer but just a restatement of the same
thing, however, I have always, from a very early age, wanted to
know and understand *everything*. When I first learned the word
"omniscient" that seemed like a decent overall goal, something
to acheive when I "grew up". :-)

Seriously, it has been visceral in me for as long as I can
remember to increase knowledge, comprehension, insight, ability
of self, others, and when I learned of them, computers, as much
as possible. It is hard to rationalize something that was there
before I thought to ask why it is there.
